Lesson Seven: Founders or Traitors?

Lesson Plan:

Students view an Electronic Field Trip from Colonial Williamsburg and engage in a structured discussion of the question: Were the signers of the Declaration of Independence Founders of a new nation or Traitors to the British Crown? This lesson serves as an introduction to a deliberation - developing skills to be used in later units as part of the Structured Academic Controversy lessons.

Handouts:

If access to the Founders or Traitors Electronic Field Trip is not available, you will need to find alternative sources the provide perspectives from both the rebel (Founders) and loyalist (Traitors) perspectives.
